The theater is now located in the heart of downtown Buenos Aires, among the streets Cerrito, Viamonte, Tucumán and Libertad. It was inaugurated on May 25th, 1908 with Giuseppe Verdi's opera Aida. It still hosts a full season of operas, concerts and occasional ballets throughout the year. The guided tour is also a popular tourist attraction.
Guided tours are available M-Su (except May 1st, December 24th, 25th, 31st and January 1st) from 9am-7pm.
Guided tours will be suspended between 10am and 1:30pm whenever there are admission-free, 11am performances on Sundays. If performances are scheduled for the afternoon (5pm), the last guided tour will depart at 3pm.
